Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for refurbishment
   • Identify requirement for refurbishing of packaging from work requests/instructions
2. Identify, acquire and prepare technical references, tools, equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and consumables required for maintenance
3. Inspect explosives packaging to confirm that it is free from explosives
4. Deface/Remove packaging mandatory markings
5. Refurbish explosive packaging
   • Inspect explosives packaging to ensure it is capable of being refurbished
6. Return explosives packaging to serviceable state
7. Segregate explosives packaging that cannot be returned to a serviceable state
8. Finalise reconditioning procedures
   • Dispose of unserviceable explosives packaging
9. Conduct housekeeping procedures
10. Maintain documentation and records

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and includes:

applying protective coatings handling dangerous goods and hazardous substances identifying packaging materials and components operating equipment and tools using manual handling and team lifting techniques using PPE applying organisational waste management procedures for unserviceable explosives packaging

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and includes:
